The RARE Steak Championship, a national food and beverage festival that unites culinary talent across the country, will make its New York City debut at Sunset Park’s Industry City on Sept. 10. More than 25 competitors at the top of their game in steak, cocktails and more will compete to win.
Presented by Buckhead Meat & Seafood and produced by DiningOut Media + Events, the RARE Steak Championship has hosted events around the country. From Phoenix to Denver, the showdown attracts top talent in those respective cities. The competition will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and tickets are on sale now.
Restaurants will compete in two categories — Traditional Steak and Creative Steak — with the option to showcase a paired cocktail to complement the dish. Event tickets include “unlimited steak tastings, signature cocktails paired alongside featured bites,” entertainment and more.
For VIP ticket holders, the exclusive Surf Seafood Challenge will highlight the city’s top seafood restaurants in an isolated competition. Organizers added that this includes “chef demonstrations, premium tastings, specialty cocktails and exclusive lounge access.”
Among the 25+ competitors, two are based in Brooklyn. Gargiulos in Coney Island and Frying Pan in Industry City will represent the borough in the steak and seafood divisions, respectively. Additional participants are expected to be announced.
Organizers added that proceeds from the event benefit City Harvest, the locally-based food bank helping to combat food insecurity.
