Thief steals from public school

A man was arrested on June 12 after he snuck into a Fort Greene public school after hours on June 11 and stole a host of pricey technology.

According to police, the 30-year-old suspect entered I.S. 265 Dr. Susan S. McKinney Secondary School of the Arts between 11:50 p.m. on June 11 and 2 a.m. on June 12. The perp grabbed an Apple iPad, a Macbook Pro charger, and a Chromebook and swiftly exited the school. All told, the tech was worth nearly $4,000. Security cameras captured footage of the perp inside, but not of their entry or exit.

Still, hours later on June 12, cops cuffed a man they believed was responsible for the theft. 

Man shot on North Portland Avenue

A 40-year-old man was shot on North Portland Avenue on June 10.

Officers responded to reports of a man shot at Whitman Houses at around 11:35 p.m., police said, and found the man with multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen, groin, and buttocks.

Paramedics treated the man on the scene before transporting him to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in stable condition. An investigation uncovered five shell casings on the scene, but cops were not able to identify a suspect.

Myrtle Avenue eatery burgled

An unknown perp broke into a Myrtle Avenue restaurant and stole its valuables on June 15.

The victims told police that someone forced open the front gate at Grace Chinese Restaurant at around 4:20 a.m. and slipped in through the front door. Once inside, they grabbed $400 in cash and a computer before fleeing back out the front door and disappearing into the night. 

The stolen property was worth more than $2,000 in total, cops said. 

Motorcycle gone missing

A woman’s motorcycle was stolen from Flatbush Avenue on June 11.

Police said the victim parked her 2024 Jiajue motorcycle near Myrtle Avenue at around 7 a.m. and headed to work. When she returned several hours later, the bike was gone without a trace. The victim told police she has both sets of keys for the bike, and that it was locked and turned off when she left it. Police said they searched several local tow pounds and other facilities for the bike without success, and that the license plate was last registered heading north at Pennsylvania Avenue and Fulton Street, just past Broadway Junction.
