Brooklynites have been buying costumes and carving pumpkins all month, and finally, Halloween is just a week away. The next eight days are full of frightful fun all over the borough — ghostly film screenings, costume contests (for those with four legs and two), parades, parties and more.

Here’s a long list of ways to celebrate Halloween in Brooklyn!

Friday, Oct. 25

“Phantom of the Opera” silent film screening with live orchestra: The ghastly 1925 version of “Phantom of the Opera” is an all-time horror classic, and St. Ann’s church is screening it in a whole new way: inside a beautiful Gothic church, with live orchestrations by the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra and the church’s magnificent Skinner organ. Immerse yourself in the film and the music and start your spooky celebrations!

$30. Oct. 25. 11 p.m. St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Church, 157 Montague St. between Clinton and Henry streets in Brooklyn Heights. 

Saturday, Oct. 26

Great PUP-kin Dog Costume Contest: It’s back: the cutest event of the Halloween season. Head to Fort Greene Park for Brooklyn’s biggest and best doggy costume contest, where dozens of entrants will strut their stuff in front of the crowd and a panel of judges, hoping to win a prize. 

Free. 12-1:30 p.m. Fort Greene Park between Myrtle and DeKalb avenues at Washington Park in Fort Greene. 

Sunday, Oct. 27

Greenpoint Children’s Halloween Parade and Party: Town Square BK is inviting all princes and princesses, ghouls and ghosts, heroes and villains to the annual Greenpoint Children’s Halloween Parade! The parade, full of costumed kids from around the nabe, will kick off at McCarren Park, head down Manhattan Avenue, then loop back to the park. Afterward, head to Hide & Seek for the ticketed Spooktacular Party with arts and crafts, candy, live music and more!

Parade is free, party tickets $20. Oct. 27. Parade at 12 p.m. Party sessions at 10 & 11 a.m. and 12 & 1 p.m. 

Spirited Stroll at Green-Wood: What better way to celebrate Halloween than with a tour through the rolling hills of Green-Wood Cemetery? Join Jeff Richman for a walking tour full of murder, mystery, captivating oddities, and spirits — plus the final resting places of well-known locals. 

$25-$30. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Green-Wood Cemetery, 500 25th St. at Fifth Avenue in Sunset Park. 

“Rocky Horror Picture Show” Screening: Want to do the Time Warp … again? It’s time for bkONE’s annual screening of the cult classic “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” complete with a live shadow cast! It will be an unforgettable, interactive night full of shouting, dancing, and props — plus an after-party at Gun Hill Public House!

Free, RSVP in advance. Courtyard 1/2 at Industry City, 220 36th St. between 2nd and 3rd avenues in Sunset Park. 

Halloween at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum: Head to BCM for a day of costumed fun and trick-or-treating in the museum’s exhibits — plus a special anime-themed celebration curated by AniTOMO Con. Be sure to stop by the Nature’s Engineers exhibit to suggest names for the museum’s new tarantulas! 

Sessions take place from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 1-3:30 p.m., and 4-6:30 p.m. Included with museum admission, $15. Brooklyn Children’s Museum, 145 Brooklyn Ave. 

Thursday, Oct. 31

Park Slope Halloween Parade: One of the largest Halloween celebrations in Brooklyn, the Park Slope Halloween Parade has been an annual tradition for almost 40 years! The procession is full of elaborate, handmade costumes – don your own to join in or enjoy the sights as the parade streams by! Many homes along the route are decked out in seasonal decor and hand out candy along the way.

Free. 6:30 p.m., trick-or-treating begins at 3 p.m. Starts at 7th Avenue and 14th Street in Park Slope, continues down 7th Avenue toward Third Street, ends at the Old Stone House. 

Cobble Hill Halloween Parade: Celebrate the day with live music and a festive parade in Cobble Hill! This year’s costumed parade will be led by local band Brass Queens, and will loop around the neighborhood before dispersing for some of the best trick-or-treating in Brooklyn! 

Free. Begins in Cobble Hill Park at 3:30 p.m., parade kicks off at 4 p.m. 

Dumboween: Halloween is one big party in Dumbo! This massive annual celebration starts with the costumed “March to the Arch” and continues with a lively party at the Dumbo Archway with live music, a photobooth, a costume contest, and lots of candy. At 6 p.m., enjoy the doggy costume contest “Howl-O-Ween” —— and don’t forget to trick-or-treat at local businesses!

Free. 4-7 p.m. Gather on Washington Street between front and Water streets for March to the Arch, or head to the Dumbo Archway at Pearl and Water streets for the party.

Extras: Catch the last few days of the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, Oct. 24-24. Find some great carving pumpkins at Green Meadows Farm or Greg’s Pumpkin Patch. Celebrate the final weekend of Halloween Harvest at Luna Park Oct. 26-27.
